BookBrewer: an e-book publishing service for bloggers
We're considering an idea we call "BookBrewer" that we would like your feedback on -- especially if you're a blogger. If you have a blog, how interested would you be in creating an e-book that could be sold in the Apple iBooks store and on Amazon.com in 5 minutes or less?
FeedBrewer is evaluating this as a concept. We would make it extremely easy for you to get published and would take away all of the hassles around formatting, design and final distribution. You'd simply feed in archived content from your blog, optionally edit & arrange it for the e-book, and get a "buy now" widget that you could promote from your blog.
You could also easily add chapters that don't come from your blog, either by writing the chapter directly in our system or copying and pasting from elsewhere. And you could work on it over time if you like if the idea of publishing in 5 minutes scares you.
We've looked into the pricing and what it would cost for us to build and maintain this service. We think we could give you $2.50 per e-book sold. So let's just say that you sold just 1,000 e-books. That's $2,500 for content you currently publish for free. We're guessing that's a lot more than you currently make on Google ads, if you make any ad revenue from your blog. Not bad for very little work that leverages what you may have done before!
Because we would also make money from each sold e-book (around $2), it would be in our interest to do whatever we could to promote your e-book.
So what do you think? Would you or bloggers you know use this service? Let us know! Post a comment here, or e-mail us at beer@feedbrewer.com.
